Artists will create a 2D design responding to the prompt “B is for Buckeye.” Designs must incorporate subjects that begin with the letter “B.” These may include plants, animals, professions, objects, ideas, or other terms.

Artwork must also reflect Buckeye’s landscape, culture, history, or community character. Artists are encouraged to select imagery that is recognizable to local residents and meaningfully connected to the region.

The artwork needs to present Buckeye in a positive light. While ‘beer’ may begin with the letter “B” and be found within Buckeye, it would not be consistent with the image that Buckeye is trying to foster.

Gallery 37 will create a mural which will be professionally attached (wrapped or on boards) to the Trash Enclosure at Sundance Park.  All four sides will have artwork.  The theme is "Nature in Motion."  (We have a kinetic sculpture going in with that same theme this year.)  All content must be family friendly, in color, and not depict any living or dead persons (unless accompanied by a waiver signed by that person or their representatives—see me if interested).  No religious or political affiliation should be depicted.  Text is discouraged.

The subcommittee will initially judge the designs by these questions:

Is the piece professionally rendered?

Are the theme and the images reflective of community standards?

Does the piece answer the call ("Nature in motion")?

Students are encouraged to draw from any element in nature—from sports, to animals and plants, to water—and reflect the environment and culture of Buckeye.  (No snowy forests.)
